I have noticed that the Myotonic Goat market in MN seems to be getting flooded with "Fainting Goats" For Sale, some
at ridiculously low prices. I have seen goats being sold as low as $50 and even registered goats as low as $100.
expression "You get what you pay for" is a serious one... Sure, you can buy a cheap goat ... even a really cheap goat.... but what
you will get is a goat that has been very poorly taken care of , is not up to date on any of its shots, hasn't had a vaccination or
its hooves trimmed since it was born or purchased (if ever). It could be suffering from hoof rot, and could very well be full
of parasites ranging from any number of internal worms to external lice, not to mention the long list of diseases it could have picked
up in the sale barn that it most likely came from.
Unfortunately there are many , many "backyard breeders" out there...
buying cheap and selling cheaper and they are killing the fainter market and giving this amazing breed a bad name by selling wild
goats that have become afraid of humans by being chased and harassed in an effort to "faint" them for amusement. I see the pictures
of these goats online and it is extremely scary and sad to see the horrible shape that they are in. Obviously it takes
money to take good care of a large herd of goats... to provide them with the proper nutrition and vaccinations to keep them in top
shape. A good breeder's prices are going to reflect this. Honestly I could not care for my goats the way I do if I sold
them all for $100 or less...it just isn't possible.
We put A LOT of time and money into our herd . From purchasing
good genetics to spending hours playing with the kids in an effort to make them the tamest, sweetest pets possible. We
vaccinate on a schedule and trim hooves and deworm several times a year. We provide new buyers with all the information they
will need to take proper care of their new pets as well as the assurance they can call us anytime with questions about their care.
I want all buyers to be happy with their purchase when they buy from us... but even more than that... I want all my goats to be happy
with the home that I sent them to!
We are proud of the goats we have and the goats we sell !!
I would like to take this opportunity to Thank ALL of my present, past, and repeat customers for buying my goats. I know that they
all received the very best homes that they could and I am so glad to know that they will be loved and enjoyed for years to come.
I love all the goats we have born here and I miss them when they are gone. It is nice to know that they will be equally loved by their
new owners and that they will be well taken care of by owners who took the time to learn about their needs and educate themselves
about their care. I hope they provide you with years of companionship, love, and enjoyment.
